So I have an odd thought/desire. I want to know what exactly is the simplest single pen and paper style rpg that is still fun to play that people know of? My mind was just wandering on the relative complexity of different systems and I found myself intrigued by the idea of an extremely simple rpg (which I know at least a few examples of exist).
My current front runner as of this post is this http://www.angelfire.com/games4/doctorwhoeyespy/universal.html which is painfully simple but has room for lots of advancement anyway.
The game will open with a group of old friends out camping. But all is not well. Little do these friends know, there are hungry bears on the loose! JK. There are bees.
Character creation is going to occur at start of each session, and is really stupid. These aren't heroes. These aren't professional hitmen. These are average dolts who are about to get attacked by a bunch of bees. Each person will draw between 3 and 4 positive descriptive index cards, one negative card, and one neutral card. These will be your stats.
The positive cards will say something like, "I'm Strong! +3 to do strong things" or "I can drive! +5 to drive things, and you start with keys to the Pontiac Sunfire." Negative cards say things like "I'm Slow! Move more slowly than everyone else." Neutral cards say things like "Tall," "Wide," "Short," or "Long Hair."
When stuff needs to happen, a d20 is rolled. If you have a card that helps or hurts that action, we add or subtract it to that number rolled. If the card doesn't say a number, the GM will decide how much the modifier will be based on the situation.
