This is the thread for the new starting LARP that will be run by the talented...I hope, Fuzzy Alan
  1.
I hear that Fuzzy Alan is an ass. Be wary of him.

Aside from that, this is where I'd like anyone that has a general question/comment/rude remark about the LARP to go. Active participation is encouraged, and intelligent participation will earn the LARP folks 1 XP/month, based entirely on my whiney-assed, stingy opinion.

Anyway, thanks to the SGS for hosting us, rather than making us wage a guerilla war campaign against you all.

    -Fuzzy

Character Creation Notes (Per 10/10/08 Meeting)

    1) Per a vote from the players (and the approval of the staff) this will be a Camarilla game. The game is intended to be primarily political.

    2) Rules will be directly per the Mind's Eye Theater Laws of the Night books unless otherwise specifically noted.

    3) Without expressed permission by the storytellers, the allowed clans are the six basic Camarilla clans and the Gangrel clan.

    4) Abilities are capped at x3 at character creation.

    5) The three starting disciplines all characters receive can only be spent on basic disciplines, though the first intermediate discipline may be purchased with freebie points. No out of clan disciplines are allowed at character creation.

    6) Written character backgrounds may be worth UP TO fifteen additional build points based on the quality of the work presented.

    7) The game will take place in current day Carbondale, which is important as it is strategically located between Chicago (Camarilla) and Mexico City (Sabbat).

    8) The area surrounding Carbondale breaks down as follows:
    St. Louis - Camarilla (barely)
    Springfield - Camarilla
    Nashville - Contested
Memphis - A "Black Hole" from which kindred do not seem to return
Decatur Area - A "No Man's Land" that is actively at war

    Cheers,

    Thor

From the wonderful sgs prez you are more than welcome for the more cheerful welcome this time. ^_^ I really look forward to having more types of games at sgs so if you need particular things for the larp get ahold of me. While I can't promise miracles I'll do what I can to be accommodating to help out.

Also and of note, if at any point there is an issue with the building manager or other "authority figures" reroute that my way. As prez any official problems are my problem and none of the members has to hash that bs out. Most of the time we've been getting along great with the peoples in charge (one of them is my roomie). But if something needs to happen no one else needs to drop what they are doing, just me. If I'm missing it becomes Jennifer's problem.

I've been with the LARPing crowd at the Student Center since about mid-2000, and I don't think that we've ever had issues with the building staff or management.

Couple of questions after the first night....

Does this chronicle actually have a name yet?

I ask because I am toying with the idea of making an advertisement flier to try to draw in some more players and I figure it will need a name on it of some sort....

Also, a question about in-weeks / influence... how are we handling these and when are they due in by?

Basically curious if it is more of the narrative form of in-weeks and influence actions... or more of the number points system?

And lastly, is there any way we can get a secondary thread on here of In Character interaction during the week?

    Cheers,

    Thor

    1. I'm not sure. I've been toying with one, but I don't know what ideas Alan has about that. Will definitely get back to you on that one.

    2. I would prefer that In-weeks/Influence be received no later than Wednesday evening. That gives me a couple of days to go over everything, confer with Alan, and still be able to give replies before the next game in case some kind of feedback is necessary that does not require an actual scene. Also, I would prefer that they be more narrative based, but if they are influence actions please keep in mind the levels involved.

    3. I don't know about the secondary thread. Will get back to you.

    Thor, et al.

I just got off the phone with BigDave, and we have some pow-wow'ing to do in order to work out some of the details. We're getting together today, so you'll have answers by this evening at the latest.

As far as a secondary thread, I've started a LARP IC BOARD thread on the main board. Ian, if you get the chance, could you maybe see about starting a separate catergory for the LARP folks, so players/STs can start our own threads without spamming the boards?

Ideally, as we grow, we'd like to have perhaps two categories. A LARP general category, like the one I'm typing into right now, and another LARP In-Game board, for other various IC and OOC discussions that will take place. (If moderation access could be granted to BigDave and AlanTheFuzzy over those two categories, it would be appreciated as well)

We're trying, thanks for coming out last night, and Dave and I appreciate your patience as we figure things out. (I'm old and forgetful!)

Personally, I had a blast with y'all last night, and hope to see y'all again next week (with some new players as well, hopefully)

    Question about ghouls....

Do all ghouls have to start with one dot of Potence?

If not, does their one discipline have to be physical... or can it be any discipline native to their domitor's blood?

What if their domitor has no physical disciplines in-clan?

    Just curious....

    Okay, couple of things.

    1. Since the true nature of things is often more than a matter of black and white, Shades of Grey has been decided on for the name of the Chronicle.

    2. For future reference, the character sheet that you submit for approval needs to be the sheet that you turn in for the database. Changes made after approval need to be brought to the attention of a member of the staff before they are made. Otherwise, it is known as the Art of the Magic Pencil, and it can result in your character sheet being shredded and thrown wildly into the air. I'm kind of a hard-ass about this, so first and only warning.

    3. I need copies of the characters for Jodie and Misty.

    4. Influence/In-weeks are due by Wednesday evening. We'll say no later than midnight. You can send them to me, with a CC to Alan. The more descriptive that you can be, the more detailed the responses will be. Please keep the overall level of your Influences in mind when setting them out, as attempting to push your Influences beyond your levels may result in Influence burn-out. I will do my best to get your results back to you so that you have time to look them over and get any needed clarifications before game-time.

    5. I've always been a fan of the default to Potence rule for Ghouls, except in cases where another Physical Discipline is In-Clan for the Domitor. Brujah, Gangrel, Toreador, and Ventrue being the "currently" available Clans with possible exception. Alan and I will discuss this one and get back to everyone ASAP.

    6. I would appreciate it if those of you with ghouls could send me a little write up on them. Who they are, how they became yours, what they do, where their connections come from, etc. Some of the ones that I've gotten have stated on the sheets that they are bound to a Regnant, but others do not. I'm assuming ftm that all of the ghouls are Bound, but unless I get some confirmation I may not continue to operate under that assumption.

Okay, so per the email from Dave and my own silliness (God, it's been a long time since I played vampire!), I need to revise my ghouls slightly. The b*tches are bound and only one of them is homeless :)

On to the next question, how are you guys doing influence? Please, oh please, tell me we don't have to do that build, destroy, attack and so forth nonsense. I like real action i.e. I buy stock in the company...I hold a fundraiser for the police, etc. etc.

Okay, disregard previous question. I should read, not jsut skim things before asking questions...

Have you guys tried to contact other LARPy types? Ben Simpson is still in town that I know of...and Thanatos and some other less desirables...

Hello all. As per request the sgs now has the cambria room on saturdays when we have the ren room. That is the glass room that can only be reached through the ren room. Currently the plan is to have that for your larp in the evening slot. If you guys aren't going to need it some week where we have it just give me a shout. Getting the room is free so long as we use it, but if they catch us wasting it there is a fine.

For the moment we have it this saturday (the 25th) not the one after, but then we do the one after that. If there are any issues chat me up.

Hello again all. I've set up a seperate category for the vampire larp, currently just called vampire larp. If you guys would like a different name let me know. Also let me know any tagline you want. Next saturday I'll be able to give you guys access to the LARPMOD account.

I've chatted with a couple of the "old guard" as it were, and they are both definite possibles, though it depends on their schedules. If anyone can talk others into joining in, by all means, feel free.

I do want to apologize to everyone that I couldn't be there until really late. I will see what I can do to make sure that it is not an issue in the future.

    Email - starkn at lycos.com
No spam messages. In the future, I will send out a reply to let people know that I recieved their stuff. I almost didn't get Cindy's In weeks, since Lycos decided that it was junk mail and I almost deleted it.

Thanks for your patience while we iron out the bugs.

    Big Dave

    Hey all,

In addition to all the other cool stuff going on with the game, Alan and I are working on a website (though it might be a bit before it is up and running)... but one of the things we will likely want is character bios for the various PCs....

So, if you fine folks can start working on a paragraph or two that kind of sums up the public face of your character, that would be groovy....

    Cheers,

    Thor
  3.
Thor is right. I was going to announce it, but fell asleep. Thanks for breaking the news, Thor :)

Right now, it is up, but really, really, REALLY rough. I'm trying to work on things while working 7days/week, school 5 days/week, and being a single parent. It's not nice :)

anyway, http://shadesofgrey.zapto.org will get you there. comments, thoughts, ideas, and remarks are mostly appreciated.

I'm currently working on the rules section stuff as we speak. For right now, it will mostly be details concerning character generation. I'm okay with running straight from LotN, for now. Problems and such that arise can be dealt with on a case by case, and any rules changes that result will be updated as needed.

I still don't have character sheets from Jodie or Mistie, so if you could drop those my way, it would be appreciated.

New website is up, but still in baby steps. We have forums, though. We're going to migrate there rather than continue to use the SGS forums.
